Created during my time as a student at the University of Memphis, Am I Next? is an illustration series addressing the ongoing issue of police brutality in America. Focusing on the tragic stories of Trayvon Martin and Sandra Bland, the work highlights everyday objects—like a can of Arizona tea and a pack of Skittles for Trayvon, or a cigarette for Sandra—as symbolic representations of lives lost too soon. Using Adobe Illustrator, I created highly detailed visuals to draw attention to the quiet, haunting weight of these items. This project was exhibited as part of a student gallery show and remains one of my most personal and socially driven works.
